Maternity Session at Albion Basin

I have been photographing Savannah and Nivah for years now, since before they were married! It had been such a joy documenting their life up to this point. The shoots we have done together include engagements, bridals, their wedding, family photos and more. And now, maternity photos!

I wanted this maternity session to have a very comfortable and natural feel. So, in addition to casual outfits and this stunning outdoor location, I shot most of these images on film. I feel like this adds to these simple “snapshots in time” that Savannah and Nivah will get to share with their baby one day. The film I used was Kodak Portra 400 and Kodak Portra 800, and I had the photos scanned at The Find Lab.

I love shooting on film, and am happy to incorporate it into any shoot. And I usually do! As you can see throughout past shoots here. I love the honest and organic feel the film adds. A special touch to elevate my simple and true-to-color photography style.

Albion Basin When the Wildflowers Are in Bloom

Savannah wanted a photoshoot location that showcases Utah’s mountains, so Albion Basin was a natural choice. We went in July, when the wildflowers were blooming. She choose a neutral color palette for their outfits, which was perfect with the yellows and pinks of the flowers.

Albion Basin is a popular Utah photo spot, and it can get busy this time of year. However, we took our time and didn’t rush anything. As gorgeous as the view here is, this shoot was really about the quiet moments they shared together before becoming a family of three. We spent the evening running up and down paths of wildflowers and soaking in the beautiful summer light. It was a shoot I cherish and I know Savannah and Nivah do too.
