Lexi and Roman were married in a small ceremony a year before they were able to finally celebrate with friends and family. When their Thousand Oaks wedding celebration finally arrived, they had all of the details perfected. The outcome was a comfortable backyard event with all the right elegant details to elevate it to the wedding reception of their dreams.

The party took place on a private estate in Thousand Oaks, California. The architecture of this stunning home reminded me of Italian gardens I am so fond of photographing. It was absolutely breathtaking and perfect for a summer wedding celebration.

The Couple

The Details

Since many wedding details have been considered long before the big day, I take care photographing them. The details Lexi chose added so much depth to this backyard event. She paired the clean silhouette of her gown with diamond drop earrings, which left room for showstopping diamond encrusted heels. Southern California floral designer, Wild Peony Design, used peonies, parrot tulips and butterfly ranunculus to make a bright colorful summer bouquet. The florals brightened up the otherwise formal setting perfectly. You could see the bride’s taste throughout every inch of this Thousand Oaks wedding – thoughtful simplicity with a pop of fun here and there.

The Party

As the evening lingered on, I loved capturing guests greeting each other happily. I always capture the detail shots showcased above, of course. But the gallery I delivered to the bride and groom was full of images of their wedding guests too. Often candid, sometimes smiling at the camera. I always make sure to capture the fun of a wedding and those who attended. Especially considering these guests were unable to attend Lexi and Roman’s 2020 ceremony, capturing their joyful embraces was one of my main goals.
