Tala and Mason met while doing service work in New Zealand. I actually met Tala years before while photographing her brother Veni’s wedding in 2019. She came to help with Veni’s own formal wedding session, also in San Diego.
Now, for Tala and Mason’s formal beach session, Veni and his wife Mamo came to help! Not only was it so fun to see this family’s photo sessions come full circle, but I always recommend bringing a helper or too along to your formals. You can read why here, along with my top tips for prepping for your formal wedding shoot!
Tala grew up in San Diego, and when they started talking about marriage she and Mason knew they wanted to have their ceremony at the San Diego Temple. We started their session here with a first look before heading to the beach.
This LDS temple is a breathtaking castle-like building in all white. I love how with the green manicured landscaping, this entire session came out with its own color palette – bright white, soft gray-blue, sandy tan, with just enough pops of color to match Mason and Tala’s bright and happy relationship.
I have always loved classic beach wedding photos in San Diego. They are timeless and simple. And because of that, there is always room for the happy couple’s personalities to shine through. Tala and Mason had such a fun time goofing around and posing with their sunglasses. While also sharing romantic moments fit for a rom com, as they walked quietly down the shore.
