Margot and Taylor are easy-going and delightfully quirky. You could instantly feel their love for each other by hearing how they talked about the other. Their relaxed and joyful relationship translated effortlessly into their wedding day, which I was honored to join as a second shooter for my friend and colleague Brooke.
It helped that the bride, Margot, used to intern for talented wedding planner and stylist Heather Balliet, of Amorology. Together, with Margot and Taylor’s lovely vision for their guests flying in from Italy, the team crafted a dreamy and memorable evening.
From the invitation suite, to the food, to the table decor – everything was sophisticated with a happy twist. Margot’s Pinterest pins for this event included colorful hand-painted invitation suites, bright mismatched bridesmaids dresses, and fruit galore. You’ll see how she transformed those ideas into the loveliest Italian garden wedding below.
The ceremony set up was simple and understated, which was a thoughtful choice when filled with the bolder wedding party looks. The venue at Chez Balliet offers multiple areas so you can transition easily from the ceremony to drinks and dinner. Which is what Margot and Taylor and their families did, after a sentimental ceremony beneath the olive trees and tender vows.
This wedding was all about balancing elegant and traditional choices with fun and unexpected ones. This rang true throughout the wedding party looks. With the groomsmen looking sharp in classic black tuxes, and colorful mismatched bridesmaids gowns paired with their petite bouquets! Margot kept the bridesmaids to a garden party inspired color palette of spring greens, sky blue, and lemonade yellow in solids or minimal patterns. This made cohesion easier, while allowing each woman to select a unique dress she truly loved. All of which set the scene for more abundant color you will see throughout the dinner below.
Following the ceremony were drinks and dinner. The Bride’s family lives in Italy and flew in for their wedding celebration. It was so sweet to hear stories from friends and family as they all enjoyed a colorful meal. The Groom’s mother gave the best toast which left everyone (especially Taylor) teary eyed.
Following dinner were their first dances at dusk. After a final touching moment with both of their parents, Margot and Taylor joined their guests to dance the night away under the twinkle lights at Chez Balliet.
