For parents of young kids who want a range of backgrounds in their family photos, it is vital to choose a spot with lots of variety without a lot of distance. This spot at Deer Creek Reservoir is one of my favorites for that reason. Without too much travel, you can get lakeshore shots and visit these golden grasses and greenery. It’s a bonus that this family photo spot near Midway Utah is beautiful all year round.
Plus, a fun feature like a lake can get your kids excited about family photos. I’ve found that when we bounce around to a few nearby spots it helps keep the kids engaged, and they get more comfortable and playful as the shoot goes on.
With the Medeiros Family, we ended this shoot near the water. The kids chased each other around and collected rocks, giving mom and dad a chance to take some photos just the two of them. This is when I captured some of my favorite shots of the evening. Keep scrolling to see more of these Utah film family photos!
This is not the only time I have photographed the Medeiros Family! You can see one of their more recent sessions in this post of family photo outfit inspiration. In that photoshoot as well as this one, I shot mostly on film. They and I both love the comfortable, heirloom, and genuine feel this gives to family photos.
