For their one year wedding anniversary, Stacey and Cuauhtémoc wanted to plan a timeless photo session. To compliment their classy and clean outfits, we chose this downtown Salt Lake City spot I always love. The Monson Center downtown offers a vintage facade and abundant flower bushes. And in the summertime, lush green trees that I love in the background of more simple images. You can find other sessions I have photographed there here and here.
At the Monson Center, we popped champagne to celebrate and set the mood before the rest of their anniversary photoshoot. We explored the grounds before continuing to Memory Grove for an outfit change.
This session represents a style I really love for engagement photos too – timeless images in a place you could spend any afternoon. Walking hand in hand with the person you love, wearing outfits that make you feel like yourself. Your photos don’t have to be flashy or in a wild location. No matter where you take them, or what you are wearing, they should feel true to you and your everyday relationship.
I wrote about that recently for another couples session, this time an engagement shoot in downtown San Diego. In those photos, the couple chose to wear vans sneakers and jeans. They enjoyed their shoot so much more because of it! I love that here Stacey and Cuauhtémoc felt like themselves too, and that is evident in their comfortable, loving, and truthful gestures towards each other as we simply strolled and snapped photos.
Stacey wanted the majority of their session shot on film, which you know I was so happy to hear! For this Monson Center photoshoot in Salt Lake, I used mainly Kodak Porta 800 in 120 and 35mm. The images were scanned and developed at The Find Lab.
Every time I photograph an anniversary shoot, the couple goes on and on about how happy they are that they scheduled it. Whether it’s your 1st or your 50th, it is so special to document this phase in your marriage. And what better way to celebrate your relationship than this? Dressing up and loving on each other for a few hours in a beautiful location?
Whether you haven’t had professional photos since your engagements, or you plan a shoot every year – let’s get your 2023 anniversary photos on the schedule now while you’re thinking of it! It’s an amazing gift for your partner. Plus, you can do something special with the finished photos to present to them on your actual anniversary.
